Voodo - To Do Magic

VoodooTodo iconVoodo - Todo Magic is a very simple, yet powerful GTD (Getting Things Done) to do app. Don't let the name fool you though. The magic lies in how simple, easy and intuitive this app is to use.

Entering info into Voodo Todo is simple enough. You have the standard fields such as To do item, due date, priority, ability to add a note and even tags. Voodo Todo also allows you to assign a contact and a location as well. If you decide to create a to do item based on it's location, such as your work place, Voodo will show you your to do items specifically for that location when you are in it.

Adding items into your to do list quickly is as easy as using the Task Search area. Simply typing your to do item in this field then pressing the + sign next to it will create a new basic to do item. You can later go through your list of to do items and add in your due dates, tags, etc.

Another great feature of Vodoo is it's filtering. You can easily filter your to do items to display by due date, priority, location or any tag that you've assigned to an item. Tagging your items is a good way to group them into a projects and using this feature has helped me greatly to focus on all the tasks involved in a number of my projects quickly.

One of the highlights of this app is its ability to synchronize with Google Calendar. At first I didn't understand what the syncing with Google Calendar would do for a To Do app, but I quickly learned how important this was for pushing notifications. Each to do that you create on Voodo Todo can be assigned as a scheduled event when you sync with Google Calendar. Once you've synced with G-Cal, you can get notifications via email, SMS or pop up alert when your tasks are due. Further you can sync Google Calendar with your iPhone calendar and get pop up alert notifications on your iPhone.

From here, you can add, edit events on your Google Calendar under the Voodo label and it will update in Voodo as well. I kinda wish I could choose the label name of the calendar, but I suppose labeling it Voodo will always get your attention and is highly unlikely that anyone has a label called that in their existing calendars. Another thing to note: marking a to do task off on Voodo doesn't delete it from Google Calendar.

After a couple of weeks using this app, I found I could easily jot down my to do's at a moments notice and not have to worry about losing any of my data or not being reminded of important items because it's synced with Google Calendar. This feature alone is worth the price of admission.
