SwitchEasy Colors for the iPhone 3G/3GS

SwitchEasy Colors Packaging Front

Despite the iPhone's sleek and smooth design, one thing is for certain. It's not made for a klutz like me. I cannot count the number of times it has dropped from my hand, bags, lap... I'm duly surprised that it has managed thus far without anything more than one "dent" and a few minor scratches.

Upon the recommendation of a fashion savvy friend, I decided to check out SwitchEasy's "Colors" line of silicone cases. They not only came in a line of fashion forward colors (with equally appealing names like "Stealth", "Milk", "Truffle", and "Citrus") but included a revolutionary new feature: the world's first hard resin "Jelly Bean" tactile button.

So durable, fashionable, and innovative -- but how does it rate?

Although I'm typically a red or pink kind of person, I opted for the Mican / Mikan / みかん colored case this time. I was looking for something bright, cheery, and ultimately easy to spot in my bag. It arrived in a small padded envelope with minimal packaging.

Each case comes with two anti-static screen guards, a microfiber wipe cloth, a "squeegee" for film application, a plug for the headphone jack, and a plug for the dock connector. None of these have to be used in conjunction of the case, but they are very nice additions and help give the phone a sleek, fully-protected look.

The iPhone easily slides into the case and comfortably wraps around the phone. All of the ports are easily accessible and there are raised nubs for the volume control and power switch. The tactile button may take some getting used to at first, but it feels similar to a remote control button. (Note: The button is not removable/interchangeable, so the colors you see on the site are the colors you will get.)

The case itself feels very smooth and picks up very little dust in comparison to previous silicone cases I have tried. The silicone is relatively thick to provide ample protection, but flexible to slide under, or push aside to reach the edges of the screen if needed.

Overall for the price of roughly $15, I don't think you can get a much better deal. The case comfortable to the touch, durable and comes in a variety of colors to suit most anyone's taste. Unless you are in need of a belt clip, use a stand up charger, or other accessories, this should do the job of protecting your iphone and do it well.

... In fact, I'm contemplating a second order of that red or pink case I had been eyeing previously...
