iPwr SuperPack Follow-up Review

ipwr.png
The iPhone is a terrific device, when it was introduced two years ago, it brought desktop internet browsing experience to a "phone-sized" device. Additionally, it could also check mail, tell you where you were (via GPS) and even watch YouTube videos. Ah, yes who could forget the ability to make and take phone calls.

However, the one of the major problems the device had was a terrible battery life. What you really come to learn quickly is that the problem with good all-in-one devices is that if you don't manage your power consumption correctly, you'll find phone/device out of power in no time...Play a game here, there, check email, surf a few sites and Voila you're down to 20% battery remaining and it's only 10:30 a.m.

Well, since the iPhone's launch a LOT of third-party manufacturers have manufactured their own external batteries. One of the best batteries I have seen is the iPwr Superpack external battery. Aside from it's sleek black and chrome styling, this battery packs a whole lot of power in a tiny enclosure...the battery is about the same width and thickness of an iphone but surprisingly, it is only 2.3" long and packs 1800 mAh into it's tiny physical dimensions.

In my tests/long-term evaluation, this battery held it's charge well and is always welcome in an emergency. It has an on and off switch that helps the unit conserve batteries when not in use AND will charge a fully drained iPhone 3G in less than two and a half hours.

I really enjoyed using the external battery pack and will do so for as long as I can, for me, it has proved itself time and time again. Watch my video review and visit the folks at iPwr to purchase your unit for $59.95. Enjoy

For someone that has their own blog I would THINK you had the knowledge to realize that this battery is a total ripoff. A similarly designed battery with a meter can be had with shipping for LESS than $7.00 on eBay!!!!!! I've been evaluating this battery for two months already. It is 1900 mAmps and it charges the iPhone very quickly. I can buy eight of these batteries for the price you paid for that one battery that lacks a meter. You got so ripped off!!!!

Why someone would by a battery of this type for a mobile phone is beyond me. Sure, it works, but, how useful is it? You can't walk around with it attached or you are going to eventually destroy the synch port. Plus, $59.95 for a battery you can only use overnight or while at your desk? Come on, who thinks of these things. I, like most people I know, have a mobile phone to be mobile. PLus, while charging the battery, you can't do anything else. I dont want to have to wait for the battery to charge to use my iPhone. Why not get one of the dozens of battery pack phone holsters which are out there. I paid $29.99, my phone never needs to come detached from the battery, I can charge the battery, charge the phone, and synch all at the same time. When done, all I need to do is detach the apple charging cord that came with the phone, clip it to my belt, and off I go. No having to ever disconnect my battery from my phone. Plus, my battery gives me an addition 10 hours of internet time or 13 hours of talking time on my phone. Dave is correct, you got ripped off, or at least paid a bit more then you should have and could have gotten a better, more user friendly one.

Hi Gregg,

Thanks for posting your comments, I do think that this external batt is a pain but aren't they all...I have yet to see a better solution, besides adding permanent bulk...do you have something I should look at?

Thanks,
iPnB
