For fans of location-based (GPS) restaurant and business finder applications, Yelp is one of the more polished apps available in the Apple iTunes AppStore. This program works best with the iPhone 3G although I'm pretty sure it works with first generation iPhones and iTouches. If I'm incorrect, please let me know.
In any case, when I tested Yelp, it worked as advertised, picking up businesses near me. It could look for restaurants, businesses, bars, banks and so on. I think that functionality such that Yelp provides could be really helpful especially if you aren't familiar with a certain area.
There's also a social network aspect of Yelp in the sense that users are able to leave mini-reviews on the certain business and post them so that other Yelp users can see what they're getting into before hand.
Whatever the case, Yelp is really easy and intuitive to use and I'd definitely recommend it, especially for the price: free, can't go wrong there...Video available below:
