Just when you thought the VOIP client for iPhone arena couldn't get any more crowded, VOIP giant Skype has hinted that an iPhone version of its P2P voice and IM service is coming. That's not all of the good news, what's more is that it should be arriving in the AppStore as early as next week.
Although yours truly would like to take credit for this exciting news, it was
GigaOM that originally broke the story yesterday.
In any case, for those of you who just want the details, currently the information is light and screenshots may be forthcoming. Right now there are a variety of iPhone apps (ie. Fring, Nimbuzz, TruPhone, etc.) that offer VOIP services thru Skype however I'm sure that users would like to use the official skype client when it is release.
Anyway, you heard it here and as soon as I get more information, I'll be sure to pass it on...
