Rumors Swirl Around iPhone OS 3.0 Feature Set

Wow, what a month it's been, so far a new iPod Shuffle, iTunes 8.1 and now mention of iPhone OS 3.0, amazing!

There are a lot of rumors going around as to what it will include and the agreement so far seems to be:

  • MMS (Multimedia messaging)
  • Tethering (using your phone as a mode)
  • Cut & Paste (whew)
That seems in line as to what users are asking for but other than that, even the experts (John Gruber of Daring Fireball) are sort of at a lost as to what to expect. I know this is a short announcement so far but, keep an eye on this column to see what more could be coming up for us. With the Palm Pre coming the competition is heating up! We'll definitely get a good picture next Tuesday at Apple's media event.

Honestly. If Apple doesn't announce that true, native (send/receive) MMS, AND copy/paste will DEFINITELY be coming in 3.0, I am going back to Blackberry. I may even wait on the Pre. It is astounding that Apple won't admit or explain why they've delayed or purposely omitted MMS and Copy/Paste on the iPhone. I want true MMS. Not some message with a link sent from your iPhone that someone has to click on to open a pic. How is it that a Blackberry can do it on AT&T and not the iPhone???!!!!
