Mobile World Congress Update

Apple continues to lead the pack in the mobile industry even though they are relative newcomers to the business. It seems that all the major players want to emulate the success Apple has had with their own AppStores. With over 20,000 applications, it's not hard to see why other companies are eager to get their own stores up and running.

So far, we've seen these AppStores announced:

  • Nokia Ovi Store
  • Windows Marketplace
  • Symbian AppStore
  • Android Market
  • Blackberry Applications Ctr.
  • Palm Software Store
it's really interesting to see how this industry is shaping up. Each year is getting better and 2009 promises to be a year full of competition. Let's hope the iPhone competitors don't take a full five years to catch up to Apple's iPhone as Steve Jobs said in his keynote announcing the first generation iPhone in 2006.
