Ability to Edit, Sort & Filter Google Spreadsheets Enabled

iPhone users have long had the ability to view their Google Docs online however not edit them. Now seemingly the ability to edit, sort and filter has been added to the Google spreadsheet application.  This is really exciting news and now you'll have even less of a reason to NOT be doing work while you're on the run. There's no word as of yet to when the document application will be editable.

Here's the link from the Google blog. This is following on the heels of Google announcing offline access to their popular Gmail. We'll keep you posted on when that is available.

Worldwide Coin Toss Review

WCTphoto.jpgChocolate or Vanilla ice cream? Burger King or McDonalds...Worldwide Coin Toss (WCT) aims to help you make those tough decisions in life by randomly or NOT falling on heads or tails. Worldwide Coin Toss simulates the tossing of a real coin, except you have a choice of coins from over 19 countries...not to mention that all those coins would be really heavy to carry around.

Mobile World Congress Update

Apple continues to lead the pack in the mobile industry even though they are relative newcomers to the business. It seems that all the major players want to emulate the success Apple has had with their own AppStores. With over 20,000 applications, it's not hard to see why other companies are eager to get their own stores up and running.

So far, we've seen these AppStores announced:

  • Nokia Ovi Store
  • Windows Marketplace
  • Symbian AppStore
  • Android Market
  • Blackberry Applications Ctr.
  • Palm Software Store
it's really interesting to see how this industry is shaping up. Each year is getting better and 2009 promises to be a year full of competition. Let's hope the iPhone competitors don't take a full five years to catch up to Apple's iPhone as Steve Jobs said in his keynote announcing the first generation iPhone in 2006.

Speculation About Background Processing Running Rampant

The internet is abuzz with news that Apple may soon be allowing multiple third-party applications to run on the iphone at once. If you recall, when the iPhone was introduced, Apple had said that in September 2008, a service called PNS or Push Notification Service would be introduced so that apps could get a users attention if need be. Almost half a year later, and Apple still hasn't brought us PNS...we think that the G1 and the upcoming Palm Pre has made Apple think twice about its strategy and will soon allow third-party applications to run in the background.

Many in the know say that background processing will be in the next iPhone OS release, but when that will be is less widely known... I do hope the update's on it's way as we haven't had a big OS release in a while and the competition is gearing up for battle...

Well, if nothing else, the upcoming months will be very exciting indeed with the Pre slated to come out sometime in June...and the next release of the iPhone suspected around that time too...but for now, keep coming back for reviews and industry information..

Sudobility PhotoLab 1600 Review

PLphoto.jpgHave you ever wanted to apply "PhotoShop-style" filters to the picture you take with your iPhone. Well, Sudobility's PhotoLab 1600 app brings over 20 non-destructive filters to the palm of your hand.

Although the application sports a relatively simple interface, it is very powerful. The filters are separated into four categories: Color, Mono, Art & Crop...Well, crop isn't exactly a filter, but it does change/edit the picture, so I guess I'll consider it a filter for now.

[Review] FL!P

FL!P Full Screenshot 1
In this full edition of the FLIP family, eBattalion has included their free "FL!P Lite" FLIP Lite as well as their 99 cent app, "FLIP! Puzzle" FLIP, and a nice extra stage for good measure.

Not familiar with FL!P?

In short, FL!P utilizes the iPhone's accelerometer to push blocks around the board. The blocks will move until they hit either a wall or an obstacle. The goals are different per stage - I'll detail them below.

Newtonica2 & Newtonica2 Resort Review

Well, that lovable space duck is back in Newtonica2 and Newtonica2 Resort, this time in his own game. These two games are $.99 in the AppStore and the object of the game is to get the space duck from one side of the screen to the next. All you need to do is avoid the enemy spheres while floating through space powered by sonic waves generated by spheres placed strategically around the map. On the way to your goal (the blue vortex), you can pick up donuts and even bounce of your friendly spheres....It's a really fun and challenging game at the same time.

Apple & Adobe Collaborating on Flash & iPhone 2.1

Wow over the past few days there's been some exciting rumors floating around the internet. First off, ever since the iPhone OS 2.2.1 was released, people have been "hacking" the source to see if they could find anything...And sure enough what they did find was evidence of an iPhone 2.1 or basically a 3rd generation iPhone. We all know that these past two years, Apple has re-freshed the iphone in the June/July timeframe and I'm sure we'll be seeing another model this year. In any case, for more details, have a look at the source, PinchMedia.

Now as far as Flash coming to the iPhone...this is something that iPhoners have wanted since the beginning, I mean it's up there with Cut and Paste. Maybe the case was made that Flash either 1) drains too much battery or 2) isn't good enough for the mobile experience...BUT I feel that Flash isn't on the iPhone because it would actually compete with the iTunes app/games experience. In any case, it seems that now Apple and Adobe are "collaborating" on bringing Flash to the iPhone. Read the full story on Bloomberg.
