iPhone Software Update 2.1 Slated for Friday, Sept. 12

Well, Steve Jobs let the proverbial cat out of the bag when he announced that the iPhone would be getting a 2.1 upgrade to its operating system software this Friday. Only providing slight details on the update, he did mention that some of the changes include:

  • Better Battery Life
  • Fewer Dropped Calls
  • Various Bug Fixes
  • Faster Backups to iTunes
  • No App Crashes (although I hardly believe this one...i think it should be Less App Crashes)
Notably absent were background push notifications which were talked about earlier this year and slated for a September release. Needless to say, this update will be free for iPhone users.
