iPhone Software Update 2.1 Brings a Slew of Improvements

Good morning, well today, Apple delivered on it's promise of release iPhone Software 2.1 today. I can say that I have installed it on my iPhone, however I cannot say how much improved over update 2.02 it is yet. I do have the list of improvements that 2.1 brings to the table:

  • Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
  • Significantly better battery life for most users
  • Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
  • Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
  • Faster installation of 3rd party applications
  • Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
  • Improved performance in text messaging
  • Faster loading and searching of contacts
  • Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
  • Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
  • Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts
  • Genius playlist creation
Whew, that is a lot of improvements, so whether you like how your iPhone is currently performing or not, I suggest you get this update as soon as you can. If you're more on the cautious side, you COULD wait a few hours to see what problems crop up from early adopters.

Anyway, if the update brings any major improvements for me, I'll be sure to post em here over the weekend...if not and I don't see you till Monday, have a GREAT day and enjoy your weekend! What are you waiting for, hit those Update buttons now!

Interested to see the Genius interface on the phone. Loving it on iTunes so far.
