Word out on the street is that AT&T is busy developing software that will allow "smartphones" such as the iPhone to recognize voice commands without needing any voice-recognition software.
According to AppleInsider, this project, based on AT&T's Watson speech recognition engine works by capturing voice commands, sending them to a remote server and then interpreting that command.
Even more exciting is the fact that AT&T demonstrates this technology in a video and the fact that this technology will breed a whole new slew of applications.
Additional details can be found on AppleInsider's website.
