Sprint will attempt to "compete" with Apple's yet-to-be-released iPhone with a new phone and a price reduction.

Beginning next week, Sprint will reduce the price of it's music service from $2.50 per-song to 99 cents. This is the same price as a music download from Apple's competing iTunes store.

Sprint will also debut a new SamSung phone called the UpStage which Sprint executives tout as a device for playing music and placing phone calls. The phone which is in a candy bar style is actually a flip phone, when we say flip, we mean you flip the phone over for different funtions. The front side of the phone is for placing calls, the back side is for music and other functions.

The UpStage will go for $149, a far cry from Apple's pricey iPhone. Hmmm. I think i'll wait for the iPhone.
